Online Presence Management: Social Approvals
Social Approvals in Yext allow teams to review and approve social posts and comments before they’re published, ensuring brand consistency and compliance.
To enable Social Approvals
To turn on the approvals workflow:
- Go to Account Settings > Account Features.
- Under the Approvals section, enable Social Approvals.
- Once enabled, approval workflows will apply to all relevant social posts and comment submissions.
To set up user roles and permissions
Roles control who can submit, view, and approve content.
You can assign these under Account Settings > Users:
- Create With Approval: Can draft posts/comments, but must submit them for approval.
- Approve: Can view, approve, or reject content pending review.
- View Only: Can see social content but cannot create or approve.
You can create custom roles or use Yext's predefined options depending on your workflow needs.
Submitting Content for Approval
When a user with "Create With Approval" permission creates a social post or comment:
- The Send for Approval option replaces the usual “Publish” button.
- A task is automatically created and routed to assigned approvers.
- Submitters can monitor the status of their content under Inbox > My Tasks.
Reviewing and Approving Content
Users with approval permissions will:
- Navigate to Inbox > My Tasks to view pending submissions.
- Click into each task to review content, preview how it will appear on the platform, and take one of the following actions:
- Approve: Moves the content to scheduled or live status.
- Reject: Sends it back with optional comments.
- Provide Feedback: For collaborative editing before final decision.
Each task maintains an activity log and supports task conversations for internal discussion.
Resubmitting Rejected Content
If a post or comment is rejected:
- The creator can edit the content and resubmit it for approval.
- The approval cycle then starts over with a new task.
Additional Tips
- All approval activity is tracked and logged for auditing purposes.
- A legacy Social Approvals page is also accessible at /BUSINESS_ID/social/approvals if needed.
- Best used in environments where multiple users contribute to social publishing (e.g., franchise, retail, or compliance-heavy orgs).
